MNBA hosts the Nikki Ross Memorial Umpire School (NRMUS) as an annual advanced Umpire Clinic sanctioned by Baseball Ontario. It has been in an intensive weekend long format since 2022.
It was originally an 8 week winter clinic beginning in January. Now it is held every April.
We also extend an invitation to Umpires from all associations! We are continuing the tradition of the late Nikki Ross, great advocate of the baseball community (previously called True North Umpires Academy)
Space is limited every year so register early to ensure your spot!
The intensive umpire training includes; contemporary techniques, procedures, mechanics and rule interpretations. Umpires will gain OBA Level 1 or 2 Certification through this course (on-field and in-class components)
as appropriate, with additional advanced components including game management, 3 umpire mechanics as well as advanced rules and interpretations.
Baseball Canada Certified Course Conductors, will assist participants through all material (both levels) and on-field training.
The three-part course consists of: classroom work, involving rules & rule interpretations and a strong focus of on-field mechanics, drills & positioning work. Students will receive approximately 20 hours of instruction over the weekend (3 hours on Friday, 8.5 hours on each of Saturday and Sunday).
We offer an educational and enjoyable clinic!
Please encourage other umpires to attend – register now!
All materials provided.
Gift bags are distributed. Prizes, give-aways and certificates will be given to participants!
