To the Mississauga North Baseball Community
July 20, 2020
We would like to take this opportunity to advise and update everyone on the status of the 2020 season. We trust that everyone is continuing to follow health official rules and is staying safe and healthy. The safety and well-being of our players and their families, our coaches, trainers, umpires, and our community volunteers continue to be MNBA’s top priority.
The Provincial Government has moved Mississauga into Stage 2 of its reopening plan, though gathering sizes are still restricted to 10 persons. The City of Mississauga has opened up sports fields for “training only”. At this time there is no confirmation of when Mississauga will be moving to Stage 3 and what the details of that will be for baseball/softball. We continue to work together with our community partners on precautionary measures to protect our membership and prevent the spread of COVID-19.
We continue to gather information and input from Baseball Ontario as well as Municipal, Provincial and Federal Government sources to determine our next steps.
The MNBA will focus our efforts for the 2020 season on training and development, with no games at this time. We will wait on the Governments decision on when the City of Mississauga will enter Stage 3 before determining if any games will be played. Many of our teams have opted to continue their training and development programs, while adhering to the various local and provincial restrictions. As well, we have put into effect the Baseball Ontario Return to Sport COVID-19 Guidelines to ensure that safety is the #1 focus and takes priority at all times.
We feel we have made informed and responsible decisions in order to protect our players, coaches, umpires, volunteers and organization and have acted in the best interests of all MNBA members and our community. We understand and respect all members thoughts and feelings on this once in a lifetime COVID-19 situation and remain committed to keeping you informed.
Please continue to visit our website for the latest updates.
Stay safe and we hope to see your children back on the diamonds as soon as it is safe to resume organized baseball activities.
Thank you

The safety and well-being of our players and their families, our coaches, trainers, umpires, and our community volunteers continue to be MNBA’s top priority. As a result, we have made the difficult decision to cancel the 2020 MNBA Summer House League baseball season in its traditional format.
We are committed to working together with our community partners on precautionary measures to protect our membership and prevent the spread of COVID-19.
We are hopeful that we will soon receive a green light from The City of Mississauga as well as other Government authorities to be able to confirm a start date to our 2020 adjusted season. We are ever optimistic that Ontario will be in a place where our players can safely get on fields to practice at some point in July and then start some new forms of baseball activities in July that may run into September. Adapted rules and safety guidelines would be in place at that time based on public health guidelines.
We commit to not dragging this out over the course of the summer and will, in due course, make a final decision on these new baseball activities. We will follow the advice of public health agencies in making decisions with regards to all baseball functions and only undertake actions when it is appropriate and safe to do so.
MNBA is a not for profit organization and as such has not qualified for any of the existing Government subsidies for Sport Programs. Our volunteers have worked diligently to reduce expenditures however MNBA has fixed costs that remain owing by the organization, regardless of the current situation. Recognizing that these are difficult times for everyone, we would ask you to please consider helping the organization to remain able to provide quality youth baseball programs in the future.
All registration money already paid to MNBA will be credited as full payment to your accounts and can be used as a credit for any other programs that we hope to have this summer/fall OR for your child's registration for the 2021 MNBA Summer House League baseball season regardless of any registration increases in 2021. All credited House League Registrants will receive an email about any ‘new programs’ as soon as the program becomes confirmed.
If you choose to be refunded your House League registration, we ask for your patience as the process will take up to 45 days to complete (minus a $50 administration fee)."
We understand and respect all members thoughts and feelings on this once in a lifetime COVID-19 situation.
We remain committed to keeping you informed. Please continue to visit our website for the latest updates.
Stay safe and we hope to see your children back on the diamonds as soon as it is safe to resume organized baseball activities.
Thank you

The safety and well-being of our membership continues to be our top priority. We remain proactive in our approach given the frequency of new developments and will provide updates on league activities as time passes. We hope that you and your families are safe and healthy and are doing your best in coping with the on-going COVID-19 environment.
There have been 2 significant changes since our last update:
Baseball Ontario has cancelled all in-person baseball activities until May 31, 2020. and the Province of Ontario has extended the state of Emergency plan until June 1, 2020.
The Provincial Government announced on Thursday May 14, 2020 its 1 st stage of reopening and there are some reasons for optimism but nothing to confirm yet. Under Stage 1 of its reopening plan, certain outdoor sports fields and individual sports, such as cycling and golf, can resume. Team sports, such as baseball, are still under suspension but not cancelled. There is hope and hope is never a bad thing.
The City of Mississauga currently has all baseball fields closed until July 3, 2020. As those decisions are updated, we will announce our planning for baseball/softball activities for 2020.
With the fields closed until July 3 rd , all Baseball/Softball Tournaments scheduled for May and June will not take place on those dates.
These announcements do not alter our commitment to getting on our fields in 2020. With the as for mentioned announcements, at this time, the earliest any outdoor baseball/softball activity can take place is the first week of July.
With the rescheduling of our summer programs, any cancellations, refunds and credits may all be options for MNBA members. We will communicate what that will look like once it is finalized which should be by mid- June 2020.
Please rest assured that MNBA is working diligently to continue to provide a positive baseball/softball experience. We remain proactive in our approach and will continue to follow the advice of public health agencies in making decisions and only undertake actions when it is appropriate and safe to do so.
We acknowledge and express our sincere appreciation and gratitude to the healthcare workers, law enforcement agencies, essential services, governments and frontline workers who continue to work diligently in our best interests through this pandemic.
I urge everyone to listen to those in the medical community and do as has been recommended and/or mandated. It is how we can do our part to help contain and mitigate the spread of this deadly virus.
We remain committed to keeping you informed and you will find new information posted on our website and communicate with you via email.
